Blind Albino?

I recently had an albino fawn that I think is blind. When we get close to him and get him up, he immediately runs and starts running into trees and all that. If it is blind, how would we know for sure? It has great stock and we would like to keep it alive, but if it keeps running into things, it is going to injure or kill itself. Let me know

Is it a true albino or a pied?

Can you post a picture of its eyes? call if you want and I'll try and talk and see what's going on.(724)735-9924

Don't think he is 100% true albino. He has the pink nose and hooves, but his ears are dark and this eyes are black too. Also, he has shades of brown in his coat. So, not a true albino.

A picture would help, but it sounds like it is a piebald. I have raised piebalds for many years. Every once in a while a pied with very light blue eyes will have trouble seeing or may seem to be blind. I have never had one completely blind. I have never known of one with dark eyes that had any vision problems.

Good luck

We had a white deer born this year we think was blind. Dad had a thread under health and wellness called "advice on eyes" It had some pictures and alot of advice. It might help. Dad gave it a shot (I can't remember what the medicine was) and it had a reaction to the shot and passed away. Just thought you might what to check out that thread maybe it could help. Best of luck.

Bad News...we found the albino fawn dead this past week...looked like he ran headlong into a tree.....looked like the fawn was indeed blind, just by looking at pictures online and researching

sorry you lost your fawn. I'm sure it was not a albino.i'm bottle feeding a

albino doe fawn but she seems to have good sight. Albinos usually have bad eyesight because they have no color in the eye to refract the light. My vet took a look in her eyes and said it looked liked a ball of water with a few blood veins running through it.
