I. Wondering if a June 2012 doe fawn will breed this breeding season. She weighs 65-70 lbs and is on full feed. Our wild rut is around nov. 14 I believe. I was planning to ai a few of them this year. I would like your opinion on when or even if they would breed.

My opinion, stay away from AI'ing them as fawns, put them in with a breeder buck and you might have half or more of the doe fawns take to breeding, chances are not all will take, even if they are 60 pounds or more. that has been my expirence.

I've had a few get bred their first year, but it wasn't usually until Jan. with fawn born in July/Aug

They may breed if they are with a buck. The downside is they may have a late born fawn, and may have only one. We also find that they are more likely to not take care of their fawn.

I agree with everyone here....especially Antlershed......do not AI as there certainly are no guarantees ........I had three fawns in with my breeder last year and none took....they were all good size fawns as well.......definitely probably be late fawns and pretty certain they will only have one.....good luck...

I picked two doe fawns out of the bunch last year and exposed them and they bred the 5th and the 10th of december. They both had a single Buck fawn and took good care of them. I only breed a two or three of the biggest in the group each year and pull them out around the 15th of December so the fawns arent too late. I would not AI fawns

I have never done ai on a fawn but do know of a farm that did try lap ai in Dec on fawn's. Result's were poor. For me even as tempting as it may be I will never ai a fawn. May expose some of them to a buck till mid Dec but will not be heart broke if none breed.

I had a buck fawn in with three doe fawns last year.two were very large and the other was a runt.large ones didnt breed, runt had one doe fawn.she was very small but has done very well and had no problems bottle feeding her.mother took good care until I pulled her.

Last year we had 7/9 doe fawns have fawns. They started about the end of June. 6/7 doe fawns.UGH!!!! I saw a 5/15 doe fawn get bred 2 days ago. Will take buck out Feb 15 so none are born after August.
