Yesterday morning went out to feed. Found my buck tangled in the fence and weak. I put him to sleep and detangled him from the fence. I did an inspection and found a puncture in upper front leg and numerous scrapes. My yearlings have been cleaned off for a while and I figure one of them got him while he was down.

I gave him 14cc poly 4cc of prevail 10cc LA300. Moved him to him own enclosure.

Went out about an hour later he was laying on him side head up looking around. I left him alone. Went back out and hour later and he could not get up hinds were immobile. I then gave him 12cc dex and 6cc of Vit B. He stayed that way all day well alert.

This morning no change, I rolled him on his right side and moved him from where he was laying. I noticed his bowels have been working with a pile of pellets.

I gave him another 12cc Dex and 6 of Vit B.

I need to get sustanance in him. Never tubed a deer nor have the equipment to do so. I was thinking of 1/4" clear tube from TSC. So a little insight on this would be helpful.

Next what additional medication would you administer.

All info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

No nothing to drink. Had water there but he keeps batting it away. I can make a tube fit a needle and place under the skin. Had feed for him but with rain now hard to offer.

Bruce is right you need to get some lactated ringers in him. Also some 50% dextrose solution would not hurt either.

Get him some fresh alfalfa if ya can Jeff. Seems the smell just makes them eat. Sounds like you have done what ya can. Maybe he would lap up some sports drink. Sweet with sugar. Sounds like he needs some energy. There is some meds you can give to give him an adrenilin boost. Good Luck Buddy!

Likely capture myopathy. If you are in an accident, ringers are nearly always the first thing you are given. Ringers and a 3-4 cc Bose shot is the first thing we give. Very sorry capture myopathy is rarely reversible.

Jeff we use a iv kit tube from trs to tube deer. Its the same kit that comes with an iv needle. Just that the tube is softer and does not have sharp edges yet stiff enough to go down

Thanks Travis I actually bought one of those today. I have SubQ given him 32oz of Solution and Dextrose 50%. We proper him upright with the cushions. Holding his head up and can move front legs. Hinds seem to have little movement now.

This is one definitely one of those bad times we experience, but only makes us stronger farmers. Sorry for those who have experienced this but we thank you for the info and advice.

I am with Bell on this one. Likely myopathy. I have seen this before, never been able to reverse it. All the other advice is definitely worth a try! Good luck!
