HI all,

We were uncertain if this buck had EHD. Treated as if it was. One month later his hoofs are sloughing off and he is lame. Front right foot and back left foot mostly affected.

Anything we can do to help him recover or do we just let it be and hope for the best???

Never had one survive so not sure what to do for the lingering affects.

Thanks for all of your help.

Thanks so much.

Is it normal for them to walk drop footed..is what I call it.

He is not standing up on his hooves. When he DOES get up, he stands very flat footed like a kangaroo instead of up on his toes. IS this normal??? His appetite is horrible today as well.

ETA: first signs of problems was September 13. after about a week he was back up doing fine. Now he is down again. I have read that this will happen off and on for a while.

Yes they will walk on their heels until the old hoof sloughs off and then they usually walk better.  However there are some that stay sore all their lives.
