:confused:I have a 2 yr.old buck with severe runs i got some pelleted wormer today, instructions say 1lb per 100lbs of body weight. My question is do i mix it with enough feed for one day or for a week and do i need to seperate this buck so that only he eats it or do i mix up enough for all the deer.

get a fecal sample, it could be worms it could be a desease that needs treated. Meantime make sure he has plenty of fresh water so he doesnt dehydrate.

Like Uncle Harley says, get a fecal exam. And if it's worms that has driven him to have runs, you would want to worm them all anyway, so don't worry about separating him to worm. Depending on what the exam shows, you might have to knock him down or chute him to give him a regiment of meds to cover all the bases you can. Good Luck and let us know so all can learn with you. well unfortunately i cant find a vet within 100 miles of me so (not many deer farmers around this area) what do think is my next best thing?

yes i can dart him but would have to drive 40 miles to borrow the gun but he is verry tame and theres not much medicines around this area to give him.

Mike - if he is that tame, maybe you could just walk up and give him the shot in the butt, no need to dart if you can pet him. But it sounds as though you don't have any meds, or do you? And if so, what?

Ok i found a vet that will help me in the next town over ,he's actually someone i went to high school with he opened a vets office a few weeks ago so im going to take him a sample in the am and i do have access to some meds, but once i find out what he has i will go from there ill be back on here tomorrow for help thank you to all who has helped me so far.

If he is tame, a pour on wormer will work and cause no stress.

do you actually pour it on like you do cattle or do you administer the pour on orally like you do in goats?
