we moved a buck on friday to another piece of property, he was kind of calm before we moved him. You could not touch him he would just go to the other side of the pen. now that we moved him I cant go in his new pen to fill the feeder or to give alfalfa. He runs around crazy and has hit the fence a couple of times the pen he was in was filled with trees this is an open field. Do you think he will calm down or due I have a big problem I do plan on moveing him across the runway to a much bigger pen but Im in the process of finishing the fence on that side any ideas Thanks Ed

Ed, Do you have him in the pen by himself? if so move a doe or two in with him, bottle feds would be best but this should calm him down.

Also, I would say he'll get used to his new surroundings when he learns his boundaries and calms down some.

I put a buck in a pen by himself once to be drawn by the vet two days afterwards and I'm lucky I didn't lose him. He hardly stopped pacing the fence the entire time he was alone. I'd get him some company before you lose him. I even had a fawn by herself last week that spent quite awhile going crazy until I finally got some other weaned fawns in with her.

He actually was put in with 6 doe, and started them running too. I went up today and he seems a little calmer. I was able to fill the feeders and get the water filled. I think it all comes down to his new home and him being unfamilar
