We have some bucks that started shedding during the night and then stop when it gets warm out during the day. After a day or two, it's evident that they don't care to shed the rest - at all. The antler velvet then becomes like a dark molded skin on the antler.
Is there a reason the bucks lack "excitement" to get the velvet all the way off? We put branches in the pens for rubbing on as we always have - never had this problem before. We have had high temps and humidity during the days but even now when the nights are cooling down, we don't understand why they don't get it off. Anyone else experiencing this?
