I'm new to this so my question may sound stupid but here goes, I have 3 yearling does 1 1/2 yrs old, 2 fawn does 7 months old, and 1 button buck 7 months old, when can I put the Lil buck back in with the does I have them on 8 acres and the button in a 1/4 ares pen, He is restless and runs the fence when the does get in sight of him. Also if I don't bred the buck for a couple of years will it cause problems with his growth or antlers.

He sure is restless..All them girlfriends just over the fence. I would not put them together at all if you do not want the chance of fawns. In your area those fawns could come in heat late into the fall. If it was me i would get my hands on a pen mate for him to keep him from being alone. There will be no effect on his growth i would say but i wouldnt leave him alone in a pen for that long!!!

I do have him in with my 3 yr old doe, but she has injuries that prevents her from coming into heat. I work with does only. This is my first buck. Thank you fourseasons.

So if i am to understand you dont want fawns and you dont want bucks....mabey move him down the road or into a pen where he will not see the others. You know how boys are!!! He will do this whenever he see's those other deer!!! You must rehab i take it..so this could put you in an sticky situtation!!!

I hand raised all my fawns. And it's not that I don't want bucks, I just haven't had any experience with them they are totally different than does when they get older.

I have hand raised all my fawns, and it's not that I don't want bucks it's just I haven't had much experience with them, they are totally different than does when they get older. And yes I do some rehab we have a lot of dog attacks and fence injuries in the surrounding counties.

I had some does separated last year so they wouldn't get bred. Late in March early April I put the deer all back together and ended up with fawns late Sept. and early Oct. Not what I wanted at all. Darn deer will do anything to reproduce. You should wait longer than that to be sure. Jim
