' ';(35,35,35)I would like to thank the Iowa DNR for doing all it can to keep our wild deer herd safe from CWD.
' ';(35,35,35)Why should someone raising deer for profit from their antlers be reimbursed with taxpayers' money?
' ';(35,35,35)The USDA and the Iowa Department of Agriculture should have no bearing on deer that are not raised solely for food. Taxpayers shouldn't be responsible for private caged trophy shooting.
' ';(35,35,35)Let's say I'm the deer breeder who rents Santa his reindeer to pull his sleigh. After a stop in Iowa, all my reindeer contract CWD. They are quarantined and then depopulated. Should the taxpayers have to take their Christmas shopping dollars to reimburse me? Of course not. That would be ridiculous. I would realize that if I raised my reindeer for profit from a non-food-related business.
' ';(35,35,35)Maybe deer weren't meant to be raise in a pen and shot for the trophy heads in a cage. Maybe we should let Mother Nature raise the deer we hunt.

' ';(35,35,35) 12pxmy comment:  Dallas, your comparisons are idiotic. The Fifth Amendment provides that private property shall not be taken without just compensation. Are you that willing to give up constitutional rights? I'm not. If you go back to the Iowa DNR website and look at the history of deer in Iowa, you will see there were virtually NO deer in Iowa in the 1930's. If we were to "let Mother Nature" take care of the wild deer, you wouldn't be hunting today. It was human intervention that restored the wild herd.

If you want to split a gut laughing, go on the Facebook page Texans For Saving Our Hunting Heritage. The debate Jerrilee gets into with Greg Simmons is hilarious. It's down under the host topic with the pretty 8 point with the little flyers. I can't believe that the administrator of the page hasn't thrown us off yet.

Gary

Didn't think my info was worth posting a new topic. Sorry for jumping on the thread.
