copper in feed

I have a question about copper in feed. Is it safe and if so what percent of copper. I buy a special blend a complete grain mix for deer that has copper sulfate, and copper amino acid complex, it's not giving the percent of copper. I hear you shouldn't give products that contain copper to goats or sheep. Does this also comply with deer. I've been told that if you can give it to a goat you can give it to a deer, medicine feed etc.., how true is this.

I don't remember the specifics about total ration levels, but sheep have the issue with copper, not deer or goats. It doesn't take much to kill sheep; you'd probably have to try with deer and goats.

Deer can have copper, sheep cannot. Supplemental copper to sheep is toxic.

We copper bolus the reindeer once a year. It is an important mineral in their diet.

Copper level in your feed can depend on your soil conditions. Some test the soil to see if they need to supplement it. Others who feed complete diets, like some of the purina deer feeds, do not usually need to supplement with copper.
