Good morning, I am very new to deer farming.

I just want to have a couple deer at the house for the time being or until I can acquire more land.

I plan to have about an acre fenced and I was planning to have two doe and one buck in that area.

What cost am I looking at for feed per year per deer?

If I don't have space for fawns what would I do with them?

Thanks for any info.

avg 500 per yr. depending on your local feed and vet & medicine prices. A deer that requires attention obviosly the costs go up accordingly.

Dont breed the does until you have more land and pens. If you only have one pen you will have a mess come next fall. Does, buck, buck and doe fawns all in one pen when the rut kicks in will get real ugly fast.

I personally wouldnt start until I had more land. You will outgrow one acre fast.

Thanks for all the info.

If I want to have a couple doe and a buck can I just seperate them for 3 or 4 weeks so I don't have breeding?

How many deer would be comfortable in a 1 acre pen? Is that plenty of room for 2 or 3 deer.

I agree with $500 and sometimes more. It would have to be longer than that. When does don't get bred the first time they will cycle again.

Better plan on separating them from October through March. $500 is a good number for my farm.

I had mine separated til early March two years ago and got a bunch of October fawns.....!!!! It's a long winter of separation and ruts each month. Jim
