How is deer farming affected by CWD affected counties? Out of state marketing? Sales of live deer? Sales of venison? Sales of scents?

It varies from state to state I believe. Here in MN, if I wanted to import a deer to my farm from another state and the county that that farm is in has CWD in the wild, we can not import. Some states I believe have to be so many miles from a positive wild deer.

CWD is usually the kiss of death. You will have fewer and fewer places that can take you deer and a DOUBLE FENCE is practically USELESS

In my State CWD is in so many counties in the wild deer. I sell out of State as there are no sales in Montana because the industry is dead here. When CWD is in my county I will not be able to sell deer or elk. We are preparing for this outcome which will be here in the next two years and selling way down to just a hobby project. CWD has worked well for people with agendas to close down this industry.

I'm in NW Illinois and my county has CWD in the wild. I would just be getting started in the deer industry but I'm trying to determine if it's worth the investment in fencing, or will cwd have a heavy impact on business. I do know that there are many farms north of us that still operate in CWD infected areas. I dont know if that affects their outside of state sales, even if their herd is CWD free. I'm sure you would have to frequently test for it.
