Im building some deer boxes for the back of our truck. What size is best for hauling adult does in. I've heard of people making them so the deer can't turn around. But also heard of people making so they have room to turn around and move.

So any help on the demensions and opinion on the turn Round and not being Able to turn around option would be appreciated.

Thanks

Our boxes are 4 foot high and four foot long. I cant remember what the width is but we made them so we could put two side by side in the bed of a truck.

If they or not wide enough for them to turn around in and they try to and can not turn around then they my turn upside down in the box. I have seen them do this in a box that is not wide enough.

I purchased a stock box from Denny's Trailer Sales and was able to haul 3 adult does and 2 doe fawns home in it. I averaged 18.3 mpg on the trip to/from Ohio. If I would of taken a trailer of any size, it would of been 8-9mpg. So by the time I take 4-5 trips, the stock box will pay for itself. It can be lifted by two people as it has rails on the sides. Money well spent!

Give them a call

Mine r 4ft long by 4ft high by 18inch wide. I can get 5 boxes in the bed of an eight foot long bed. Have never had any problems with haulin deer in them. They just lay down when u start to move them.

My boxes will all be wide enough that the deer can turn around. We had an incident where the doe tried turning in a box that was to narrow. This did not end well. Just my two cents

if the box is to high, yes they may turn around.19 in wide by 43 in. high most adult deer can not turn unless it`s a yearling or small body animal.

im concerned about them heating up , heck let turn around , mine are big, 6 ft wide 7 feet long and 5-6 feet tall, all my boxs are wall to wall double thick carpet sides doors roffs every thing padded, once you get going they will lay down , i custom make them , biger is better
