I have a deer Fawn that has his head tilted when he walks. It has been about 4 weeks and now his one eye looks like he might be blind now ... At first he was having a hard time keeping head up . Has anyone seen this ?
I don’t think he broke his neck we have darted him twice and our biologist said his neck looked fine plus I have seen him move neck . Biologist said he has never seen before . it is so weird he walks sideways . It is like he is if off balance. He is still eating and his ears are up .
We darted the deer and gave meds for all of that I do think it is a infection of some sort. When we had him down we checked him out since he was leaning to one side we thought ear ache . We did find a scab and dried up pus in one ear . He started to walk better and thought he was getting better. But now this week he looks worse ( the eye thing just happen this week). I haven’t seen any drooling yet ...This has been going on for about 4 weeks ... thanks for your help really do appreciate all the info . This is something you can’t just research online.. Also the mom has been licking his ears constantly..
I wonder if he’s got a bad ear infection and it’s throwing him off balance? I’m no doctor though just throwing it out there. Can you get on Facebook and get on the deer q&a discussion board? I could invite you to it as that’s the only way you can get on it. There’s a lot more ppl that can help you on there. This site is pretty much done as everyone uses Facebook now I guess
