Doe and fawns with lumps

Was wondering if everyone could look at these pictures and diagnos these lumps. The first 2 are of Pixie (bottle fed). The lump is like a marble and hard. The 3rd & 4th pictures are of a doe that just showed up with this lump. It flops around like loose skin. The last picture is her buck fawn. He is very subdued right now and not feeling well.



Could use anybody's help on this one. Thanks!!

1 cc of draxxin per fawn, doe 2.5 cc, give i.m. and repeat in 5 days. lump jaw

( necrobacilosisfusarium), treat it 50% over dosage, you don't want to develope a resistant strain

Looks like you have some fusobacteria problems. This is the time of year it seems to show up out here. We give a shot of Fusogard (2cc) and a shot of draxxin 1/2 cc for fawns. The lump will burst by itself or you can lance it. It will have green looking toothpaste in it. The Fusogard shot will help immune the animals.
 
Was in a hurry to post above cuz I had to feed fawns so have a little more time now.



The buck fawn on the doe....we did try to lance. Couldn't get anything out. We sliced through the skin and couldn't get anything to come out. Do we need to cut harder? Like I said above, he isn't feeling well at all and we can catch him.



The doe's floppy lump showed up yesterday. Randy noticed last night. It's like a lot of loose skin floppying around.



Pixie has had hers for awhile now. I wasn't real concerned about it at first, but now it does seem to be growing a bit more. I've felt it real good and have stuck my finger along the side of her mouth to make sure it wasn't food. It doesn't seem to be on her jaw but just on the skin. And hard. About the size of a large marble right now.
 
Susan my first thought was abcesses. But with so many I would treat for fuso to have that base covered. If it is abcesses they will run their course. Normally abcesses will not make a fawn or adult go down hill or feel too bad not to eat. Treat for the fuso because it will take fawns down. One thing I was told by the vet is if your dealing with an abcess never try to asperate when it is in it`s harden state. Keep us posted on what transpires. Always like to know what things are. Thanks everyone...will definitely update this as I know everyone has this problem at some time. Will get some fusogard. Is that something we could dart in the doe?



Is fusogard something we can give at birth to get away from this...if so, how much do you give?
 
Fusogard is a preventative not a treatment. We give 0.1 cc at birth, 1.0 cc at 2 months and then 2 cc when we wean them. Once we started this we have not had a single case. I have had the best luck treating lump jaw with twin pen, the only draw back being that it has to be given every day for 5 days.
 
The buck is still not doing so well....walked right up to him today and caught him to look at him. The doe got darted last night....no change in her. Also, gave Pixie a poke in the butt last night that she didn't like. She has acted fine with her lump though.



I'm worried about that buck though.....he is just so sick. I don't know that there is anything else I can do though.
 
The doe seems to not have as much flopping around....it looks pretty good. Darted her with 2.5cc of Nuflor (didn't have Draxxin). Was reading up on Draxxin vs. Nuflor and looks like they treat same illnesses, but does Draxxin last longer and that's the difference?



Gave Pixie 1cc of Nuflor in the butt and it appears to have had some effect on the lump that she had. I see her 4x per day so it's hard for me to judge accurately. It just seems to be smaller and maybe a little less hard.



The buck fawn....still able to walk up to him and catch him. :( But it does appear to have shrunk the lump some. Do lumps on the bottom side of the jaw bone hurt and they quit sucking? He appears to be full in the flanks like he is getting something, but seems weak and lethargic.



That is the update for now.....hopefully I will have good news about the buck fawn in a couple of days.
 
Draxxin and Nuflor do treat the same things but the doses are different . Draxin is 1 cc per 100 lbs and Nuflor is 6 cc per 100 lbs. I use Draxxin in a dart and Nuflor or Baytril when I can lay my hands on a deer.
 
Update on Pixie's lump is that it is noticeably smaller to me this morning.....whew!!



The little buck fawn's lump is smaller, but seems he's gone blind now!! Circling around like he can't see.....frustrating. Gave a shot of B Complex and told Randy that it's the most I can do for him now.



Sucks.....after not losing a fawn all spring, we've lost 2--probably 3 if this one dies--buck fawns (of course) in the last 1 1/2 weeks. Such is raising livestock....right?



I didn't look at doe last night, but will update on her this weekend.
 
Treat with Draxxin. It is ok to give them a lil more than what they need. I have a 4 fawns with it and they have all pulled out except one. It was too far gone when i knew how to treat it. Get it fast it will killem quick. Good Luck!
 
Pixie's lump is pretty much gone.



Doe is doing good.



But buck fawn with lump died 2 days ago. His lump had gone down alot, but he had gone blind. Wasn't ganted up too bad so did look like he was getting some milk or maybe just water. So both fawns that were sucking off her died.



Anyone have any clues? Did the floppy lump poison her milk thus making both fawns sick?
 
Do you all dart your buck fawns. I can get about 20 foot from them. I found 1 doe yesterday with a lump now i have a fawn with a lump. How do I get Fusogard to all the deer without darting them all?
