Doe with ear hanging

Just wondering what some opinions would be on a doe that we have that just isn't acting right.

Her one ear is hanging and she just isn't herself right now. She is due around May 26th, but usually has her fawns a week early. So putting her in the chute to see what is going on is out of the question as is with darting her. She shakes her head alot and my guess would be an ear infection of some kind. She also is keeping her tail tucked which to me is another sign of some kind of distress.

Is there a safe antibiotic out there that is safe to dart this far along in pregnancy? She is not tame, actually one of our wilder does but an important doe as she is really starting to show that she is a producer.

I would post a picture, but like I said she is one of our wilder does and I don't know that a picture would even show anyone anything besides her one ear hanging.

I would really appreciate anyone's opinion on this because I'm quite concerned about her.

Thanks

when they shed there winter hair the guard hair from the ear edge will sometimes find their way down in the ear, that would cause distress until she shakes her head around enough to get it out. It could be and ear infection though, maybe you could just shoot her with some LA200 through the gun and see if she starts to perk up, thats all i can think of. Hope it works out for you, good luck with your babies this year.

I wouldn't use LA200 even at this late date because of the chance of killing the fawns and causing an abortion. Plus the fact you would need a lot of LA200 (4 cc to 5 cc) I think is what is recomended.

If you want to dart the deer with a antibiotic I would use Draxxin as it will not cause abortion and should be safe even at this late date. This would be my choice if she were my doe.

I also feel she has an ear infection or something in her ear. Could also be a tag infection. But other than a shot of an antibiotic at this time I see no real emergency. If Draxxin doesn't cure the problem after she has had her fawns you could dart her down and inspect her ear and give proper medical treatment.
