Quick question: why would a deer be eating the bark off a pine tree? There is some old sap exposed. I assume that's what she is after. There are plenty of other food options, so not like she is starving looking for food. I wouldn't think it could hurt her - right?

Thanks

They love to eat bark off any tree in the winter.  If you were to throw some brush in the pen, they would skin it all!

Great feed and alfalfa bales with clover under the snow and they keep eating the bark. Mostly deciduous like maple, birch and ash. Does seem to be worse than the bucks.

I heard somewhere that pine trees have a natural dewormer in the toxin in the sap mine eat tree bark all the time does not hurt them pretty smart animals heh T&S
