Chris - I feel your pain as well.

To lose a super clean 202 inch 10 pt 2 year old for any reason is just about as painful as pain can get, but then to lose others as well after doing all you can...a man has got to feel like you just got your guts kicked right out of you...but only cause ya just did!!!

Certainly sounds like you did your best Chris...hitting those 2 big bucks before they even showed signs.

Don't let it get you down too bad...there is better days ahead...that's for sure!

If you have a relationship with Jesus, and it sounds like you do, you have all you need!

God Bless!

What I'm about to say has nothing to do with preventing EHD,its more about keeping on top of things within yourself when someting like this virus hits.

I run lots of species,so when MCF hits one or two,its not a complete disaster there are still healthy herds of other species to look after & distract me from the loss.Hemmoraghic viruses are the number one reason I haven't put more effort into raising bentang cattle or hog deer, although I'd love too.

I know too well the feeling of walking through enclosures & seeing animals you have real attachment to down. What helps me is being able to go over to another herd & seeing others still thriving. It dosen't feel so hopeless.

I have no doubt that running just a few of another species (fallow, reds, sika, etc) will give a small distraction at times like this,it's worked for me. It's just a thought. (Just dont introduce carriers)
