I am trying to legalize Fallow Farming in Virginia. I understand Fallows do not get CWD or a host of other diseases that Whitetails do but need documentation. If anyone has any information pertaining to Fallow Deer please forward it to me. I am fighting a uphill battle

Thank You

I have been raising fallows since 2006 and they are the toughest animals alive! There has never been a case of CWD or EHD in fallows, the only thing that I have seen slow them down is worms but that's easy to treat. I hope you can get them going, I love mine.

Other than the worms Jason mentioned, I have seen some cases of liver flukes in Fallow deer we have harvested. A good dose of ivermectin and the flukes go away.

EHD may not go clinical in fallow, they may still carry it.

Last year some tests were run on blood samples from rusa & chital (axis) in Nth QLD Aust. They were positive for EHD & blue tounge without any clinical symptoms.Still dont know if they are a dead end carrier or not.

I dont know of any reasearch as we were left scratching our heads, how ?why?

If they allow sheep in Virginia, then fallow should not be an issue as they carry far less risk of disease.

Cheers Sharkey
