fat% / vit % in feed

I had a sample of my feed checked.

fat 3.02%, fiber 3.80%, calcium 0.25%, phosphorus 0.43%, salt 0.15%, vit A kiu/lb 4.04, vit D kiu/lb 1.06, vit E iu/lb 4.80, potassium 0.86%, magnesium 0.18%, zinc ppm 47.04, copper ppm 20.13, iron ppm 30.85, selenium ppm 0.26

Is this ok, or should something be added or taken away.

This feed does not look complete or balanced. I would pull another sample or check with your feed supplier.

Protien 16 - 18%

Fat 4 -5%

Fiber 14 -20%

Calcium 1.2-1.6%

Phos .6-.8%

Mag .25-.4%

Pot 1.2-1.5%

Zinc 80-120 ppm

Copper 25-50 ppm

I'm a very strong believer in Vit E. The reason I add more is quite simple. I have noticed over the thirty years I have been raising deer that it seems to reduce any capture shock from happening due to stress. Vit E is in my ration mix every day but I will top dress Vit E an extra amount at least a month before I plan to dart or sedate does for AI. It will stop capture shock from being a problem. It seems to me it is one of the most important Vitamins in your mix.

the only thing that I can see besides the protein fat ratio is kinda out of spec is the fiber being low, need more for proper digestion if your only feeding pellets and not hay.

I am also feeding alfalfa hay, this is a whole grain mix and not a pelleted feed. I think I will get another sample and test it.

Feeding alf hay helps your balance some. Jack is correct on importance of vitamins.

Vit A 8000 iu per lb

Vit D 2000 iu per lb

Vit E 50 iu per lb works well for me.

What is the protien in the feed ?
