I had a buck fawn aspirate some milk a couple days ago, so I gave him some draxxin. But this morning he took a turn for the worst. I am trying just to keep him alive.

Is there anything else I can do if this happens again in the future?

This may sound crazy but liquid flows with gravity. You need to treat them like a drowning victim by getting the liquid expelled. The easiest way to do this is to take him by the backend and let his head and chest hang down to the ground. Them have a helper lightly compress his chest to expel the liquid.

Worked for me once!

Jeremiah - I would give him the draxxin every other day for at least 3 times. Probably more to do that I'm not aware of. Just don't be afraid to stay on him more frequently with the draxxin. Lung problems need to be jumped on with both feet. Good Luck!

Yes and do just like Sandridge stated.

What I sugested was what needed to be done when it first happened.

Thank you guys for the advice, but I was unable to keep him alive. It hit him so fast! Two days ago he aspirated the milk, so I gave him draxxin and then this morning he was a goner. Well, at least I know what to do if it happens again. Live and learn.

did he do it while sucking on the bottle, or was you trying to squirt a little in. or tube feeding? Still trying to learn everything I can. I was like this also before scuba certification.

Sorry you lost him Jerimiah. Seems like only too often we deer farmers get whacked around a bit. Good News is - the best is yet to come!
