We had a cool front three days ago. Rained real hard ,cold rain. Found her tonight with a slight crackle when she exhales. I gave her .5cc of Zactran (Better than Draxxin) and 1cc Dexamethasone SQ. Is there anything else you would do for her tonight?

Jason, If you are going to bottle feed her....................Baytril added to the milk in the bottle works.......GREAT!

Best of Luck!

Wayne , i have baytril. She has been on mom for a couple weeks. But i can get my hands on her. Do i have the dosages right for draxxin/zactran and dex? How much Baytril?

Jason, I think your probably spot on with the Zactran , i just like Baytril for this type of thing it's easy on thier system and works well for us. If she is a pretty big girl 1/2cc is what I would probably give.......But I would probably wait since you have already treated her! But would not hesitate to treat her with a follow up............That crap in cold nasty weather is a killer!

It is a judgement call when they are out on the momma................Catch em when you can!

Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies guys. I appreciate it. She is one of my favorite fawns of course. I

checked her this morning and she was already feeling much better. I gave her.75cc of Baytril and she had more fight to her than yesterday. I will give a follow up in a couple of days for both meds. Thanks guys!

Im not familiar with zactran is it the same as draxxin? i see its a quite abit cheaper.

Just an update on my (PINKY TOES), Free Agent/Kingpin/Doc/Lilly doe fawn. She is 100% well. Couldnt catch her two days later for a booster shot. Dont matter as she acts like she was never sick. That ZACTRAN is worth its weight in gold literally!!! Im a happy camper.

Baytril is a great drug for pneumonia. I gave my dog SQ injections for 18 days to treat her aspiration pneumonia, and although it caused some fur discoloration and even ulcerations, it killed the pneumonia. I even nebulized her with Baytril. Problem with Baytril orally--- it tastes just horrible. I would keep up with the injections.

Dennis-- get another vet. My vet sells it to me no prob.
