We have raised a fawn from infancy and she is now over 5 months. She lives totally free outdoors. She still loves her milk and fruit and comes in to feed twice a day. Will we do her any harm if we continue to feed her milk and fruit through the winter months? We also supplement her with feed & water whenever she wants.

Are you a licensed Deer Farmer? If not you have already caused enough harm (I know you did not mean too) and need to get her away from you and not dependant......If you are to get caught there will be heavy fines you will face. These are wild animals and are not menat to be pets especially ones that are running free. No one will give you any different advixe on tis site as they all know it is not good to raise a wild whitetail unless you are properly licensed.

You will do no harm in supplementing her. The harm will come from a wild animal which is hunted in trusting people. Someone will put an arrow in her or shoot her as she has no fear of man and will not run from them or hide like her wild deer friends. So to continue to feed her will cause her harm in the fact she will come to people and I'm sure you don't want that to happen to her. Let her be wild and hate man for her own good.

Milk and fruit is not the best diet for her now...If I were you I would scare her away from people and the house. If it is legal to do so you could supplement her out in the woods with corn,deer feed, and alfalfa...Just make sure you are not baiting her for a hunter!
