I got a 3 month fawn that is always chewing on the fence wire, anyone ever had anything like this, or know why?

Yep...what they said...we used to have a tame doe that would do it...the noise it made used to freak me out until I finally realized she was the one creating the noise.

Make sure the fawn doesn't get cut inside its mouth chewing on that fence...... or a teeth injury.....it can cause an infection ....Seen it happen !!

I have that too, mainly with nursing does.

Could it be some kind of mineral deficiency ?

Is it possible they can somehow taste iron, or something else that they are lacking?

I've often wondered.

The last pen I built, the wire is green coated, and they won't chew on it. They go to the uncoated divider fence. So they must taste something good in the uncoated, galvanized fence. Zinc? hmmm
