I have only been in the deer bizz for a few year's and just been researching genetic's and picking semen to use for a couple year's. I dont yet have a full understanding of the best way to go about it all though I do think I have a good idea. Either way nothing beat's year's and year's of actual breeding experiance. I quess what I am getting at here is take a buck like BJ without a doubt a buck that has done a lot for many farm's. With price's like they are making it a must to raise big deer fast, would it best to use BJ him self or use one of his proven son's that is a bigger inch buck though BJ is the one that produced that bigger buck. That's where I hit a road block when looking at buck's I like. I like many of the older sire's but then I look at many of there son's and just dont know what choice is the right one to make there. A lot of time's for me it comes down to the cost of semen, good son for a fraction of the cost of semen from the original sire.
