We have been doctoring a buck fawn for a lump on his jaw that ruptures, probably has happened three times....gave drugs and antibiotics for that. Tonight we ran him through the chute and though he had Italian, but this time it was food impacted. Extracted that....how can we stop this from happening? Gave him more antibiotics again.

Read post from Dec 2015, bought Wazine last night and put it in his water. Praying this works! Any other thoughts?

Clean it out and hope it goes away. I have had it happen tried lots of different things. Generally if you clean it out and it comes back it will continue to. Its like an addicting habit for them.

It is caused by the constriction of blood vessels to that area.  Wazine can prevent it but I don't think it can cure it.  We have found it will continue to come back and will eventually kill the deer.

We have a buck fawn that has food impacted in both cheeks for about 8 weeks now. We darted and cleaned it all out probably 6 times already and it just keeps coming back. We wormed heavy and used wazine in case it was arterial worms and didn't have any effect. We let him go 4 days with food in and every time  we cleaned it out would wait longer the longest was two weeks and we are going to look at it again this weekend its been about 3 weeks. i have noticed that sometimes its really full and pooched out on both sides and then in a couple days its not as big on one side or the other then really full again. So far theres has been nothing going on inside the cheeks or gums like infection or even anything that looks off. The only hope I have is one guy I know said he had same problem and his doe was like that and he cleaned it out several times and finally give up and just let it go. He said she was always like that and fawned twins every year for the 3 years he had her. I guess if some how they get it out every other day I guess it could not cause a problem. If we clean it out this weekend after its been 3 weeks and nothing looks bad inside were just going to let him go and hope for the best. So far he eats fine an keeps weight on good just looks like a 100 lb chipmunk storing nuts for the winter. Good luck with your deer hope everything works out with him. Forgot to mention every time we cleaned it out we gave a shot of an
