Foot problems

I recently purchased 4 deer at an auction, approximately 4 weeks ago.

About 2 weeks ago, my buck started limping. I had the vet our twice and he gave antiobiotics and applied antiobiotics to a wound on the foot. The buck is better, but still limps a little.

Friday I saw one of the does limping so I sedated her and looked at her foot. She had a small wound at the base of the hoof. I repeated the treatment that my vet did. The next morning she was dead. I took her to my vet, and asked what he thought. The condition of the feet had become much worse overnight. The first joint of the foot was very swollen and when the vet took hold of the hoof, it came off. He wasn't sure what the problem was, but wondered if the deer had hand an injury to their back legs, since the back legs were the only ones affected and both deer came from different farms.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?
