Hello All... just looking for some quick advice... we've used Zoologic replacer in the past, we are pretty sure we are going to try red cap on the two fawns we're picking up tonight. I've read some of the posts and have a few questions... the red cap is just the Vitamin D Whole Milk that we can get at the grocery store, correct?? Just making 100% sure!!! Also, I've read to just let them eat whatever they want, is this true... so no measuring??? And should I continue to do five times a day in the beginning and then cut down to four times after the first week??? The guy we get our deer from is using goats milk this time, he likes it... but it a distance for us to get it.... and opinions or suggestions!!!! thanks a million... this forum has been a life saver in the past!!!

:)

Yes...It is vitamin D Whole milk from the store.

At first I mix red cap milk with colostrum

If I suspect coccida, ecoli, salmonella, ect. I mix medicated replacer with red cap for a few days than wean to full red cap.

Than feed all they want...To a point...

I have seen fawns on many things.

I have visited several farms and only one farms fawns were slightly bigger. I thought about changing... then I found out they were 1 month older than mine! They were born in February...I am very happy with red cap.

These picture were over a month ago on July 11th...

Thanks so much for the insight... we just got our two fawns home and settled in for the night. We have decided to go with goats milk. So i'm hoping for success, I've heard good things, but I'm not opposed to trying the red cap next time around.
