Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I'm new to this forum and the reason I joined is myself and my family are wanting/working towards starting a small deer farm. I'm looking forward to chatting with and definitly learning from the members here. We are located in East-Central Minnesota and have been helping/learning with our neighbor who has a 2 year old doe. My family (wife and 4 children) are very excited to eventually be "deer farmers". Any thoughts, information, suggestions are and will be very welcomed.

Thanks, and Hello!!!

Jim

Congrats and i wish you luck...Once you catch the bug yur life will never be the same..Right now things are a struggle in the deer world but just learn, learn, learn and you will be fine.My advice would be start small and grow..Get the best bloodline you can afford or a line that you like the looks of and go.Just dont start to big trust me i have only been in for a year and it will get over bearing at times and you will have trouble.I can also say that there has not been one time that i needed help and it was not here on this site. The people are great, they will help and they know their stuff.Oh and by the way i dont think they make a pill that will get this bug out of yur system. Welcome!!

I am the secretary/treasurer of the MN Deer Breeders Association and we would love to have you as a member! We recently redid our newsletter and I would like to send one to you. It has some great information in it and great ads to look over. All contact information for the Board and membership information is also included in the newsletter. Please contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions...big or small.

Go & visit, visit, visit & visit again farms that are up & running. That is the best advice to give someone getting in the business.

Hi Jim,

There is a lot of deer farms to visit in Minnesota. Here is a list of them from the MN Deer Breeders Association. I put it at the bottom of my post. I would become a member if I was you, there are so many benefits. Hey Susan, I just looked at the members Directory and my farm's name is spelled wrong. You got Vicking Whitetails instead of Viking Whitetails, can you change it Susan...Thanks

Good Luck Jim
