I have a 3 year old buck. He busted the tip of his antler off a couple of weeks ago, we put him down, cut off the broken piece (didn't look as if any maggots had gotten into it), sprayed with Catron & loaded him with antibiotics. He seemed to be doing well....went out today and one of his eyes are completely swollen shut and seems to be liquid dropping from it. Seems as though the whole side of his face is pretty swollen and he is a little lethargic (don't know if it is from lack of sight in one eye or what). Anyway, going to tranq him tonight. I have some ophthamic terramycin to put on his eye after cleaning but was wondering which antibiotics I should give him. I have about everything available. Any ideas as to whether it could be antler infection working its way down there causing this? Looks like he is stripping velvet on the tips of his antlers. Please help with any suggestions asap as we are putting him down this evening when it gets cooler!

look for snake bite. I couldn't tell you what to do if it was. not much help. sorry and good luck.

I have no idea either, but maybe pics would help folks figure it out.

That sucks though.

Good luck with him!
