hi all, i had a doe that i lost the otherday. i assumed she was constipated at first, so we doused her with mineral oil and water. this did not do the trick and she died the next day. when we posted her we found three large hairballs. the largest being larger than a baseball. is there something i can put in the feed to control this? thanks for any ideas. tom l

Tom, Was she eating the hair off other deer or her own. I have a doe eating hair from other deer but this is the first I ever heard of hair balls from deer.
i don't know , probably both. my deer seem to lick one another as well as their selfs. only ideas i have gotten so far are to increase fiber content. probably a fluke thing. like has been said before, deer are just looking for ways to die! the rest of my deer look an act fine, today anyway. tom l
