Herd not Accepting new White Doe

I just got in a piebald fawn and a 1 1/2 year old white doe. I placed them in a pen near the other does and this year's fawns for about a week.....we finally let them in 2 days ago. The herd has completely accepted the little piebald but they want NOTHING to do with the white! They won't let her feed, if she gets close they'll hoof her and chase her away. I need these 2 new additions to thrive. What to do? My husband said that one of the fawns was even chasing her away from the feed troughs.

My idea is to take all the fawns, including the piebald, and create a new herd with the white one being the oldest in our pens. Then keep all the adult doe's in a seperate pen. The fawns are all weaned and I figured this might give the white one a chance to be dominant.

What do you guys think?

I had this happen before and they would not except the white deer...I had to do the new herd thing that you suggested and it worked out best for all........good luck!

I have a brown one that has been in the pen for 2 years and they will not let her eat when the other deer are eating. Exactly the same as descibed above. Some deer are aggressive and if she will not fight back she will probably never be accepted by that herd. Try putting her with a younger herd or less aggressive does. You know who the mean ones are.

Same here! I have a six year old that has been trying to fit in with 3,4 year olds. I put in 2 doe fawns with this bunch and it helped! She's not at the bottom of the order and she has some else to push around she can at least lay with the whole bunch. Took 6 months to fig. This out but it worked! Good luck! Charlie

The pens are not that large....they are on an acre. Good point. I will segregate them and put her with some of the younger ones......keep our fingers crossed. We definitely have some snotty doe's:) I thought we were done with segregation! Now with deer.....what's next:)

I have some that are really mean to the White Deer!! They sometimes get over it, but I always feel so bad. You really have to watch it can get bad quick, they gang up the big meanies!!

you can bring that white doe here. My deer don't have issues with white deer.

This brings me to one of my rules. I always do what I can to bring 2 deer into my farm at the same time. That way if timing is bad and the acceptance is a problem, then the two new deer have each other and the stress level is much lower.
