If we accept the CWD rule/standards?

Well Scott what you and many of us have been waiting for is as close to coming as it will ever get. Science says 30 months from exposure to clinical. The Flees farms have been closed herds for 15 years. If their science is even remotely accurate how do they explain this positive buck? And the first person who says we just missed it prior to now can kiss my sweet backside. Percentage wise I bet the Flees' have tested at a higher rate than any other farm OR state for that matter. They would have found it years ago!

The way I see it this case is THE blessing the industry has hoped for. It is THE opportunity for us to get this CWD issue rethought by all agencies and start over with a "monitor program" so as to track it's effects on herds. CWD will never be eradicated, it can only be learned to live with it. Time has come to stop killing animals and livelihoods.

Rhonda and Toms herd were also a closed tested herd. They even made it to the point where their state says that cwd is not a threat to animals or humans.  The fact is now the states dec and dnr depts are losing their one and only crutch against us to further their agenda. Now even states deer hunters are fighting against their states because lack of animals and they also say those deer are gone because of ehd and pi$$ poor whitetail deer mgmt.  Now the hunters and the public are seeing the truth. Its still going to take much more fight to get some states to see the light but we win a little war with every state that agrees with cwd mgmt and that is not killing the whole herd on any farm!

The Red Deer herd in Minnesota was also a closed herd for close to 12 years. They killed 300 head and found NO more positives. What a waste!

On our ACA call last week, I asked Dr. Davis if CWD could occur spontaneously, just as it does with mad cow. He said yes it could. How does the program deal with these animals? When a disease can occur from no contamination, how do you stop it? What's the point of quarantining animals and land for 5 years?

Exactly Gary. And that is why the industry needs to push using their own science against them to drop this ridiculous money wasting program. Throw out the federal rule and standards and sit down using today's knowledge and write a program that monitors and tracks but does not kill deer and livelihoods. The program should also not be a financial burden to producers or average taxpayers. To agree to continue to operate using the same rules is absurd. It clearly doesn't work!
