Just got a notice from my insurance agent State Farm that they were going to cancel me because of the deer, said the liability was going to be too high

. So if anybody has State Farm be aware

Did you drop all other insurance with them? Don't let the insurance company cherry pick your insurance. We have the same problem with them on the gulf coast, they want to drop the home owner policy and keep the rest. Cancel everything with them.

James, check with Farmers Alliance insurance. That is who we use. Tedford Insurance Co. out of Jenks is my agent. Give me a call and I'll get you their #.

Had the same problem with State Farm and American National. Here in Texas, Farm Bureau is the way to go. They consider deer livestock, just like a cow or horse. They also don't harass you about what breed of dog you own, if you have a pool or a trampoline. The best I have found, by a long shot.

I agree. Here in Illinois its country companies thats affi;iated with farm bureau. They will only insure each deer for around 3500 a piece but it is better than nothing. Rick

We switched to Farm Bureau this year. So far its been a good experience, I put 10,000 dollar coverage on some of my deer without any problem. They are covered for just about everything you can think off except natural death. We even have coverage on our fencing. I didnt check to see what the limit was on coverage. Has anyone had any claims with them. Kinda wondering how that will go when the day comes.

Just a comment...We live in Ohio and have had State Farm for years...and have never had a problem with them...other than they wouldn't insure our deer. We're still trying to find a company that will. We were basically ready to give up looking until we saw all of your posts. Apparently, State Farm isn't what we thought it was. And, maybe Farm Bureau is the way to go. Can anyone give us contact info? Thank you.

Farm Bureau, would not even give us a qoute when we told them we had deer. Even after we told them we didn't want coverage for the deer. It amazes me these insurance companies are so IGNORANT about our deer being behind 8' tall fence and are concerned about our deer geting out. But my nieghbors have 1200 pound bulls behind **** fences that get out on the black top all the time but they LOVE to insure THESE "FARMERS"

I know of someone who hit a horse in the fog once. Almost was killed in the accident.

I know of multiple people who have hit cattle on the roadways or had their cattle hit on the roadway.

I know of one person who hit a goat on the road.

I know of someone who lost control of their car on the **** covered roadway near a pig farmer.

I lost a friend who was killed on their motorcycle when a farmer pulling a chopper box with a tractor turned in front of him with no directional lights displayed.

The funny thing is I have not ever heard of one single accident or injury to the average person from a captive deer or elk.

I wonder why that is?

This will stir the pot but I don't care. I have asked multiple times for NADEFA to take some steps in this area and to my knowledge not one thing was ever tried.

WHY NOT!

In most states we are under Ag and should have the same rights as other cattle people. But no, we continue to hold our ankles and say thank you very much for the exam.

We use Farm Family Insurance. We will see how they are since we have a claim in for our fawn that was killed by a neighbors dog. Will let you know how it turns out.
