Good Day to all. Just looking for a little information.

We had a doe delivered on Tuesday this past week. We decided to put our 2 calmest does in the same enclosure. We had to move the 2 does back because they were pushing the new girl to hard and the weather was changing for the worse. Did not want anyone to get pneumonia for breathing moist air.

Our question is how long have you guys experienced a new doe getting pushed around before the dominance is based. With that asked is there a good chance that anyone of the does could abort because of these actions. Not sure if we should introduce just one of the does with her and leave them together and alone from the rest till after they fawn.

Thanks.

Jeff, yes the stress could cause abortion if it goes on and on over a long period of time. We have a very dominant doe that I have seen pick out another doe and go at her relentlessly to the point that we had to move the new one to another pen. If you can, perhaps put a doe fawn or 2 in with the newby since deer do not like being alone. If you have to put an adult in with her, try to pick out the least dominant one and put just her in. It will be easier for your new one to escape from just one doe. Nice seeing you and Tina yesterday.

i just added a doe on thursday of this last week put her in with 3 older does and they chased her around until sat now they seem to be getting along just fine

Steve,

It was good to see you yesterday as well. If Carolyn is by you tell her we said hi. She was moving faster than I was and could not catch her.:D Hope you guys are drying up.

All we have are the 3 yearling does. We put the least 2 tempermental girls we had or that we thought and they were removed 1 at a time over a period of a day. I think we will try again with just 1 of the girls when the pens dry up a little bit.
