Point taken matt...And i agree to a certin extent..But i dont see the need for the likes of tigers,lions or even bears to be kept at someones home.I guess i have mixed emotions on that but they said there are like 1400 bengal tigers in the world and this guy had 18 behind walls. I think those animals would have served better to be taken to a zoo or breeding facility and mabey used to breed and introduce back in the wilds.

I think mabey a law on numbers of those kind of animals would benifit. Still a sad deal either way!!!

I read in one of the articles that a woman did tranquilize one tiger but after it was hit it charged and was shot and killed. Question though how do you tranquilize an animal in the loose it would run off for 15 minutes and maybe not evenbe recovered how much ground could a cat cover in 15-20 minutes. I think they did what they had to do. By the way it souns the animals were aggressive anyways they shot multiple animals after responding to the initial call about them being loose only because they were eating the man who killed himselves body. It also says that as soon as they responded they were charged by a bear that was killed 7 feet from the officers feet at full charge. I don't know how many or what but several animals were taken to zoos. It also is hard to believe everything we are all reading how much is accurate ect.....

Bill and Matt are right on, Ohio must stay alert, because this is the beginning of a long battle over exotics. One more piece the anti's can get their hands into and stir the pot. What's Obama rule, something about don't let a good crises go to waste, or one man's crises is anothers opportunity.

After watching this play out, i contacted my sheriff yesterday. I explained what i have to do for my deer heard, and that I always have dart gun, darts and drugs. Basicly offering my services if he or his deputies were ever in a similar situation. His response was one of grateful, they have had situations before but called vets with not luck in any having a dart gun. He was excited to have civilian support on their energy call list going forward. Something you might want to do for your county.

I heard today that the governor was going to ask for tougher laws for exotics. Just because one guy goes nuts the whole industry will have to suffer. If it weren't for some private owners of some of these animals that are on the endangered lists they wouldn't be endangered but gone!

My theory holds - most laws are written because 5% of the population that doesn't have any common sense - then the other 95% of us have to pay for it.

Before everyone cries "endangered species".

Are they "pure" Bengal tigers or not?

Animals which are not pure have zero value to conservation other than reasearch,education etc & are not an endangered species.
