Little crusty bumps

I've always said the longer in this business you are the more weird things you will see. Well this year some of my fawns have developed little crusty bumps just about every where or anywhere on their body. I picked some off and looked at them under the scope. Turns out they are some kind of mite.

I treated all fawns with Ivermic Plus 1/2 cc per fawn and any that had them around the mouth area I put Bag Balm on. All crusty bumps fell off in two to three days after treatment of Ivermic. To hurry the process along I combed the fawns with a steel dog flea comb. It took off the bumps with the mites and the scab they had created right now. Just thought I'd share this with my fellow deer farmers.

No Mike I did inject them but I see no reason it couldn't have been put in the bottles I just didn't think of it at the time. Golden years I guess.

My DVM suggested a follow-up shot of Ivermectin one month later (after the intial dose) for mites. You might want to check with a DVM re the follow-up shot...

Lanaset, Thanks on the follow up shot. I had planned to do that to get the eggs that hatched.

we have used vectra 3 d, frontline plus spray and mycodex sprays topically with good success as well.. No painful injections :) had one so bad that we bathed and pyrethrin dipped him as well :) Good luck, God bless!!
