I have dry ingredients I want to use like Rural King Super probiotic powder. I also have plenty of empty tubes. What would be the best gooey substance healthy for the fawn I can mix with my dry ingredients to fill my tubes?

First thing that comes to mind is yogurt. Although you obviously would have to keep it refrigerated. I do believe there may be bentonite in most pastes to help it line or stick to the guts. That would be the tricky part.

Adam,

Thanks, yogurt will work fine. I hadn't thought of that. I can clean up and reuse the tubes easily with the yogurt.

There is a gelling electrolyte product called Revitalyte. You can get it from Tractor Supply or PBS. It is a powder that contains electrolytes and gelling agents. All you do is mix it with warm water and any other ingredients you want. I use it all the time for fawns and older deer. You can make it as thick as you want...just add more of the powder.

Tonight I tried filling tubes with the plain yogurt and Rural King super probiotic mix along with a smidge of electrolyte powder. I mixed a lot of the probiotic powder in the yogurt. They smacked it down. It can be made up at such a reasonable price I put a nice bead of it on the fawns backs above the tail to help mom out a little as well. I can make up enough to treat 50 fawns two times for less than 20 dollars. Is their any other supplement that I could add additionally to make a better fawn paste that don't cost an arm and a leg?

I messaged back. The fawns did eat the yogurt paste well. I refilled and reused the same syringe tube repeatedly.
