I'm collecting mule deer semen for a producer that wants to try for a bigger body size on his whitetail, as the 30 pound antlers on his whitetail are to much weight for his 200 plus pound whitetail deer with the use of mule deer semen.
I personally wanted to make a white hybrid from my white whitetail in the mule deer and then breed back to the mule deer to make the white mule deer.
One trait that is very desirable from the mule deer is the calm easy going way about them. Just an example is I feed by the bucket from the truck. I had a pen of whitetail and mule deer together. I dropped a bucket from the tail gate and all the whitetail were gone just that fast but all the mule deer just stood there and seemed to know it was just a bucket that dropped. This would be a good trait to bred for in whitetail and we all know why.
