I have 58" 100% poly shade to put up. I have pounded wooden posts on about 16' centers. My thinking is to rip some treated lumber and screw to the flat side of the fence (the posts) but how often do I need to attach between posts? And how? Yes, I get some wind on this fence. It is a north/south fence on top of a hill, so I get some NW and SW gusts during storms, so I'm hoping to hold it about 10" off the ground and punch several wedge-shaped cuts into it to help reduce wind-pressure on it. What do you think about taking UV-safe conduit and strapping it to the fence between posts with zipties? Open to advice (except ommiting the poly shade) and plan to put it up ASAP.

Thanks

I don't have shade cloth nor have I helped anyone else install it. That being said, I did hear on another post of installing strips of wood on either side of the cloth to pinch the cloth. Seems to be simple yet effective. If you do use an unconventional method be sure to post how you feel it has held up after you feel it has been tested.

I went to tsc and bought some 8ft t posts and pounded them in between each post!!

I have the big posts 15ft apart.I used zip ties to hold the t posts and then on top of the cloth i used the clips and then i streched the cloth as i went down the fence and held it in place with the pig rings!!Those little things are better then bailing twine around the farm!!!!!

I have 72 landscape fabric around my one pen. I took 1X2 strips 72 long and screws through them the fabric and fence right into each post. I have full height posts every 30' and a 4' post in between making my strips every 15'. Works and looks good. I did get a bad storm one time that took it down a couple places. So I took more of those strips and went right between each post and turned them side was (parallel to ground) and sandwiched the fence and fabric right about 4" down from top. Works great. If you have reall high winds I would look into cuting 1' squares out of plywood and sandwiching the fabric and fence more often, the plywood will give you more surface area holding the fabric.

P.S. if you want to see pics go to my website and take a look. My only difference bewteen me and you is i never cut wind holes.

Good advice so far. This isn't fabric, it's plastic sheeting I bought from Delclayna. I'd like to avoid having to cut wind holes since the whole reason I'm putting this thing on is to keep the deer calm when idiots do their four-wheeler doughnuts right on the county road at the pens (and people walking their dogs, etc.) I think putting T-posts between the pounded posts is a great idea.

Zip ties will not hold, to much wind. screw post to post with material between them to hold, also might consider using a toip and bottom edge screwed together. Call me next time you are ready to buy, I could have saved you money as I am cheaper in price. To the one using the landscapr fabric, get rid of that, it could wrap around your deers head as is unwrappes ityself unlike what I sell which does not unwrap. Please check out ofur web page at www.bfproducts.com when you are ready to buy next time and I am sure I can save you money no matter what item you are looking for.

I wish I knew how to load photos because I would list some that might be of interest. email me your address and I can send you some.

We install the shade cloth this way. About every 15 ft we stand up a 1x2x8 treated pine strip (available from Home Depot) and stick the bottom onf the strip between the bottom and first horizontal wire above the bottom. Then we squeeze the cloth between the fence wire and the board and secure the strip to the wire above the cloth with a tie wrap. This is a quick, inexpensive and safe way to put up the cloth such that it will separate from the fence in a high wind and not blow the fence down.

Here's a quick way to put pictures in your posts:

Part 1

1) The pictures must already be up on the internet somewhere before you can insert them here. Don't worry--It's easier than you think.

Here's one way how:

A) Open an account at Photobucket.com

B) Once you've done that, click on the "My Home" tab and it will take you to your page.

C) Click the big green button "Upload Images & Video"

D) Follow the easy directions there to upload your photos.

E) Congratulations! you know now have your pics up on the internet and are ready to insert them into a post here on Deerforums.

Part II

1) Start a post here on the forums. When you are ready to insert a picture click on the icon that looks like this:
insertimage.gif

2) It will open a box that asks you to enter the URL of the picture. That means it wants the address of the photo you have on Photobucket.

Here's how you get that address.

A) Go to your My Home on Photobucket. See the picture you want to put here on the forum? Right above the picture will be a couple of links like this:

B) Click on "share"

C) Then click on "Get link code"

D) Then go down to where it says "IMG for bulletin boards & forums"

It will have a box that says Full Size and it will have html code in it. Just copy it (Highlight it, right click and choose Copy".

Now, back to the red #2 above

You have a box that asks you to enter the URL of the picture. click inside the box, delete the http:// that's already in it (because the code you copied off Photobucket already has it in it) and past your code into it by right clicking and choosing 'paste'.

Now when you go to preview your post, you should see your picture in there!

I hope that helps.

Another way you can post any picture already saved on your computer is to click advanced and then click the paperclip icon and browse the picture you want to upload. once finished just click the paperclip icon again to insert the image in your post.
