Hey guys,

I am looking for any advice anyone has on health tips. I have a serious problem going on at my farm. I have lost 2 fawns 2 does and a buck now in the last 3 weeks. I thought it was coccidiosis and so i ran everyone through and vaccinated the heard.

Ive sent the last 3 dead into the lab for testing and my results surprised me. They are dyeing due to ulcers in there stomach. I have never heard of that before and the person I spoke with said it is stemming from the food.

My herd looks the healthiest its looked in the last 3 years, animals are all plump, hair looks nice. But at this rate of loosing animals they'll be gone by june.

Has anyone had this issue before?

I switched my feed program last summer and everything has been constant since. ( I switched to a feed mill that another "neighbor" deer farm had been using with success.)

My nutrient level doesn't seem to aggressive compared to what I've heard other feed

Fat content 5.5%

Protein between 16.5-16.8%

Fiber 13%   (this is my only change that I made from my "neighbors" ration if he is being honest with me on what he feeds, i bumped it from his 10% to 13% as I thought fiber was good for their digestive system?)

My does are eating between 2-3 lbs a day, bucks are probably a solid 3-4 lbs.. I dont think this is excessive?

They have an open water source as I have auto water system.

try putting a aerator in water trough your fiber should be around 29% is what I feed 20% purina antlermax the 29% comes from whole cottonseed and its got 22% protein also good luck T&S

We also feed Purina Antlermax and have for probably 10 years with no problems. We add a little corn and put out alfalfa bales in the winter. Go with a feed you know is proven by scientists who do nothing but research day in and day out on feed. The wrong feed or even a missing ingredient can kill your deer!!!

Ulcers can can from a few sources. I had a couple animals many years ago that had some ulcers. If you would like to discuss please give a call.
