We found a 2 or 3 day old buck at the end of May. His leg was broken above the hock. We brought him home and put a cast on his leg. We put him on a Nurse All from TSC. We gave him a shot of penicillin because his navel looked infected. We kept the cast on for four weeks. His leg healed great. At 12 weeks he became very sick. He had diarrhea for 13 days. We used many things. Neomycin Oral Solution, Imodium, Co-rid, Safe-guard & pumpkin. We took a fecal sample to the vet it was negative. He also tested for another disease and that was negative. We thought we were going to loose him, so we took him off the milk. We made a paste out of Calf-manna and feed him that with the usual clover, honeysuckle and apple leaves. He never did eat the regular deer feed, although it was always in front of him. He bounced back and everything look good. On Sept. 19th we let him go. He comes back every morning for feed. He is on a regular deer feed with shredded carrot. We take him back up on the hill and he stays there all day. About a week ago he started getting loose stools. I have been giving him 12cc of Imodium every morning. His stools are about the consistency of pudding. I clean his butt every morning, but he always comes back the next day messed up. I wormed him with Safe-guard. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please don't say injection. He's too strong and we're too old. Thanks
