I'd be careful of that much Baytril, it can cause damage to bone growth plates if used too much.

Dave,

As you can see everyone has a different method to stopping the runs. You need to slow down and stop giving her everything under the sun in a few days period of time. Her system has no idea what all the different things are that you are giving.

Also if you have an issue in MN it is most likely completely different than the ones I may have here in PA. At least from a bacterial perspective.

#1--Identify the problem. Bacterial vs. Viral, over eating, etc.

#2--Fecal test. This is the most important thing. Now that she has been treated with a variety of things this is difficult.

#3--Many times when they have the runs just keeping them hydrated is good and it helps them to purge out the bad stuff.

Good Luck

Hey Josh,

I think you have some sound advise. I have decided to treat her with one method for now and stop giving her so many different things at once. I will see how it works before I try something else and I will be sure to get a fecal sample done.

Thanks...Dave

gammulin and celmanax. work pretty good for me. and sometimes we overthink things, dont forget the bottle of pepto bismol in the fridge

I got the fecal sample done and the vet said it was coccidia. I have been treating for 3 days now with Albon and haven't seen a improvement yet. I don't know how long it takes for Albon to work? I was wondering if I should give it more time or switch to Corid? My vet also said he would keep the fawn on Corid until she is 6 weeks old. Right now she is a little over 3. Any thoughts on that, I thought if does clear up in a week or 2 it would be ok to discontinue using it but I want to be sure. It has been real hot and wet here so the vet thought that might be contributing to the coccidia not going away that easy. I would appreciate some thoughts on this.

Thanks...Dave

If you're still having scour problems, the ONLY thing that we had success with was Schmucker's All Natural Correction. I can't say enough about that stuff!! We've had Crypto in our fawns two years in a row and it gave them horrible scours. We followed the advice of our vet and other deer farmers and tried pretty much all of the remedies that were mentioned above and nothing worked for us. I googled and found the All Natural Correction, ordered some and within 2 days our fawns were gelled up. We're NEVER without it! (Note: it gels quickly so you have to feed right after putting in the bottle. And it has clumps in it so you have to make the nipple hole larger to avoid the nipple hole clogging) ...just an FYI in case nothing else works for you...

Thanks for letting me know about Schmucker's All Natural Correction. I will be sure try it if the Corid doesn't work. I am starting her on Corid tomorrow morning. BTW: how much Schmucker's All Natural Correction did you give the fawns and was it only for 2 days?

When nothing else works ask your vet for Naxcel. You give it s.q. every 12 hours. In 2008 we had tried every thing. We got a bad batch of milk replacer

(won't mention the name) and ending up tube feeding for five days on goats milk and Naxcel shots until he started sucking and the scours stopped.

Good luck

Joe Schmuckers stuff works well and should be in everyones box of goodies! A little FYI mix Joes All Natural Correction into a paste form and put in a recycled fawn paste tube and give it thru this syringe type method in the corner of the mouth, The fawn paste tube hole is just right to deliver this goo!:)

I did a google search on Schmucker's All Natural Correction and couldn't find it. Can you tell me where I can get this.

Whitetail sales Dave. it does work very good....have used for several years. But they catch on quick to the taste. I like Wayne's idea of using the paste tube! Excellent idea!

Ok thanks Susan, I'll get some so I have it on hand. I will put it into a fawn paste syringe since that works well and it tastes is so bad.

I just wanted to tell everyone Thanks that helped me out with advise on getting my fawn to stop scouring. She has been doing good all week ( knock on wood ) and today even started to form pellets when she goes.

Thanks Again...Dave
