Hi all

I have been hunting for most of my life and I have always wanted to start/run my own operation for deer farming. Now this operation wont be for maybe 4 or 5 years as im still in college and leave for Texas Tech in August. I was wondering if there was anyone in the San Antonio area that wouldn't mind me coming out and checking out their operation. I am completely new at all of this and I want to get a good idea of what im getting into and I want to know exactly what im doing before I even think about beginning. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mbueno,

Give me a call I have a breeding/hunting ranch which is 100 miles south of san antonio. I also live in san antonio too. (361)215-7043

mbueno, I have a son and nephew at Tech, and a ranch about 250 miles away. If you are interested in guiding or seeing the place, send me a PM.

Always glad to see a fellow Red Raider getting into the industry. You should contact Ryan at the G4 Ranch. The G4 is a first class operation and Ryan is the ranch manager, a good and knowledgeable friend as well as a TT graduate. Send me a text at 817-983-8577 and I will give you his number.

Good Luck!

Paco Deer Company (they are just south of Sequin a little) but there are several breeders in the San Antonio area.

Great guys, they have always made me feel welcome. They have some AWESOME deer as well. If you are in San Antonio then you HAVE TO come to the TDA convention at the JW Marriot. Go to the TDA website to get the info.

Starting your plan now is smart, stick with it and don't let anyone tell you different. Going to Tech you get to study under the great Dr.Kroll...good for you.

As said above, you are better off buying one or two deer at a time rather than several cheap ones. Stick with it and and keep doing your homework and studying the industry.
