Has anyone had a doe that did not have any milk ? i have a doe that i was watching , waiting for here to fawn i could never see her drop a bag . she never really looked like she was even bread , but she dropped a large buck fawn , and a very tinny doe fawn . still no milk bag that i could see. i tagged the fawns gave them fawn paste , 2 1/2 days later both fawns died. guess i should pulled them , but i was not 100 percent sure . so any way if she had no milk is that something i need to worry about the next fawning season? thanks for any help.

I had a 1 1/2 year old doe have a single buck fawn last year, the fawn was quite early and real small. As far as I could tell the doe had no milk and had no idea what the fawn was. I pulled it at 8 hour's old. This year the doe had twin buck fawn's and has a good milk bag, they are 3 week's old she has took good care of them.

Sometimes women have this problem. I think hormone shots are prescribed... Don't know how one would treat a deer, but I think that the milk comes in usually with stimulation of the mammary glands. I'm sad to read that you didn't monitor those fawns better Jamie.
