The Hotel Block for the All American Invitational in the catalog is a misprint!

The correct number is:

(817) 535-6664

Ask for the Whitetail Deer Auction Room block! Special $169.00 per night!

Thanks

Eric

I still can't see how this can be advertised as the "North/South All American Invitational" when the auction is being held in the south.......why would it not be held in a more neutral location and in a location where their borders are open to everyone in our industry......

Maybe next year it will be held in Cleveland, heck if you wait till February maybe the lake will be froze over for eveyone to see. Only an hour drive for me...

ddwhitetails, Maybe you have no noticed but Texas is not the only state the borders are not open! I think if you would take a moment to think about what we are trying to accomplish here and you could see that is not what this is about. The borders being closed are not under the control of the TDA or any deer breeding association. They are under the control of the Texas powers that be. In no way should anyone blame the deer breeders of Texas for the borders being closed. By the way the breeders in Texas spend thousands and maybe millions on northern genetics, so maybe you should be a little kinder to your thoughts and comments towards all Texas breeders. This is the second time you have stated that it should be held where the borders are open. Get off of your borders deal. Until the Texas Powers That Be open the borders, you or anyone else crying about it just adds flame to their fire. The sale is called the North/South All American because it is Northern and Southern genetics and they were all invited to participate. There is your explanation! Now you don't need to ask that question again. You narrow mindedness is why we will never take the next step and embrace this industry as a whole. Get over the border being closed, you are not going to change it nor am I. At least not until we can show that we are all on the same page with the same goals. Many Texas breeders feel that folks from the north think their borders are closed because the northern genetics are more superior or something and would cause them damage. This excuse is as far from the truth as it can be. Texas has made monumental strides in the quality of their deer, and they have some incredible sires of their own. Maybe you should take a look at some of them and you would see the breeders are not your enemy. By the way just because you do not have a Texas breeding permit, there are many northern breeders that do. They know the importance that Texas has. I do not who has educated you on the borders being closed, but you complaining to the wrong people, it is not the Texas breeder.

DDWhitetails, I ask how can that help our economy? If you were from Texas and they know the only reason we want the borders open is to sell shooters to them, then why would they open the borders. This is the wrong kind of thinking and a bad reason to jump on the open the boarders bandwagon. Why are we not jumping on Alabama, or Tennessee, or any of the other states with the boards closed? All I am stating here is that we should not and can not blame Texas for our problem. By the way I will bet that if some of these folks that think the sky is falling would just hold on and not sell their shooters to the first guy that comes along, there will be ranches looking for plenty of shooters in the next 2 months. I see it every year. I get lots of calls looking for shooters in November and December.

Personally I dont think the borders are the issue. The problem is not enough hunters. If we have enough hunters no one would want to haul deer across the country when they could sell them locally. We need to all get behind growing the shooter market. I know here in Alabama we have had an explosion in the breeder market but no growth to speak of in preserves. We have closed borders and can not ship in or out. The only solution is to grow the shooter market locally. The end product is soon going to be the shooter market. The breeder market will soon be over supplied in Alabama, if its not already. If we don't grow the hunter market we may as well be raising emu.

Good post deerchaser. Grow the hunting sector. That is where we are at. Keep in mind the whole world economy is down. It is not just our whitetail market. Things are looking up in the world industry and ours will too. Things will rebound and so will the hunters. Remember, we have taken one step back, now lets start to take 2 steps forward.

This market is just like any other market. When there is a reduction in the use of the end product (hunters) or the growth in inventory out paces the growth in the end market there will always be a squeeze. I know here the preserves are not going to be able to use all the deer that will be available. My only choice is to put up a preserve and sell my deer to hunters.

I also believe that as the economy improves the hunters will show up in full force.

well said Deerchaser, was just trying to say something very similar but you said it very well already

Mid west I probably should not have said what i said above ....as i know it is not in the control of a lot of the deer farmers /Ranches in Texas...... I am not going to go into the details but i am very informed regarding all that went down with the TDA and the borders being closed.........It is just frustrating because if every state ran under the same situation we wouldn't have a successful industry........However, we are all in this together and I do realize they spend a lot of money on Northern Genetics just as the Northerns spend PLENTY on the Southern Genetics...........I still don't understand with this being a Northern/ Southern sale that it could not have been located more neutral to benefit both Northern and Southern as far as traveling is concerned....I am not trying to cause trouble just thought if you trying to bring the north and the south together in one sale the location should have been considered better......Trust me, I want the best for the Auction. I hope it is a GREAT success as that only benefits US as an industry.........Deer Chaser you are exactly correct in what you say about the (hunters)...this is why we need to get the national campaign that Russ Walk Jr. brought up a few weeks back up and going!! We need to educate the public on High fence Hunting and on Hunting in general......we need to bring back that Hunting is cool and a lot of fun as well. A great Outdoor Experience!!

Here it is again a comment about borders on a thread that had nothing to do with borders in the first place. Great response Midwest you really said everything that needed to be said.
