okie advice wanted

Hey everybody,

I'm new to the industry an just got my permit for raising deer. I'm an Okalhoma girl thats looking to get my feet wet, and was just looking for somebody else raising deer in Ok that I could maybe email or talk to. I have a ton of questions I need answers to and this seems like the best place to start out. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, for one, you can look at www.whitetailsofoklahoma.com for farmers in Oklahoma. There are plenty of us, whats your questions?

First off. Rulles and regulations? Seems like alot of information to take in. What states can oklahoma import from and what all kinds of papers and permits do I need? I got plenty more questions just feels like alot to post at one time.

Hi Davina, Im an Okie too. My farm is in Sallisaw and would love to help anyway that I can. This is my 3rd yr raising deer so Im somewhat new to this myself but will help anyway I can. Jeff

Sounds like you need a good ol farm visit. I have most of the information you need, and if not I have a red phone the goes straight down the rd to WOO president. Here in Marshall county we have 3 farms. I have served on the board and the other two are on the WOO board now. There is a wide arrange of genetics between us. We are within 10 miles of each other. Make a circle, you will gain lots of info.

P.S. Not to bang on other states, but just starting out, Oklahoma has plenty of animals of different genetics, and most were born here....means alot when BT/EHD raises its head.
