Hi everyone,

Hope ya'll had a wonderful Christmas!

I need some advice, I have a 4 - 4 1/2 month old. She is watery runny one minute and then pellets the next.

I have given Pen G .a couple of times. Seemed to help then back to runny then pellets.

Fecal came back neg for everything. She is Pure Southern. She is in with other does that are 85 - 95% northern. Not that it would make any difference, and they all get along together.

Fixing to worm again.

Any thoughts, suggestions, any advice Is Greatly Appreciated!!

Fiber,Fiber and more Fiber.

Remi,

I had one just a couple weeks ago that seemed like this, we just started find what leaves were left in tree's and honey suckle and by weeks end she was back to normal and also eating her hay like she should be now!

I have one doing the same thing. Not gaining weight, eats good but looks bad. Treated for worms, gave Albon, LA 300 and pro bios. Nothing seems to work. All other fawns are healthy.

Brett,

Get yourself a ladder and some loppers and find some leaves. You can also get some clean earth/dirt they will naturally eat it just make sure It's dry!

Try all the suggestions but make sure you worm again like you said.  Also, it may help to switch the type or wormer you use.  I had a similar situation and I wormed with one type of wormer and then followed it  with another type about 3 weeks later and she seems to be much better.

On the honeysuckle, you give everything, not just the flowers, right.

I have used ivermectin, safeguard, and valbazen. Not sure what else to try.

Some one said fiber, fiber, fiber. I am going to try that too,

It is a fact that most worms are building up resistance to all the wormers. I believe you need to do an egg count on stool samples. If worms eggs are found worm with Valbazen ( found this wormer to work best for me) If after two weeks the egg count is right back the wormer isn't working so then try another wormer and two weeks check egg count again. When you find a wormer that is working use it. The reason the worms are becoming resistant is because we don't use the right amount of wormer per deer and then these worms that didn't get a full dose will be the new worm population with the resistance starting in the worms with the wormer you used. Pour ons are worthless on deer if poured on but given by mouth will achieve the worm kill you want. Same goes with injectable wormers. This last statement is just my opinion from being in this industry for thirty years.
There is a new wormer that is not approved in the US yet but it will kill 99.9% of the worms so you would be able to start with all the other wormers again as this wormer should kill almost all the worms resistant or not.. It works by rendering the worms paralized and out they go as I understand it. It is a sheep wormer so would be off lable to use on deer. I will be trying this wormer on some deer soon and will give a report soon.
I believe most problems with loose stool are caused by worms as there are worms that do cause loose stool. I personally treat all deer or elk with loose stool with wormer and give the recommend dose of Micotil 300 every 48 hours for three treatments. This cures all my problems with loose stool.

Remi,

I did fail to mention we wormed them about the same time we started cutting leaves from trees and honeysuckle.... What we do is just cut whole limbs with everything on them dead or alive leaves berries. I find mature trees close to the trunk up high has leaves so I get the loppers and a ladder and get the girls some leaves!
