The reason why the deer farming industry is in favor of the fee is:
· Department of Agriculture has had significant budget cuts. The CWD / Herd monitoring program, which is critical to deer farming, was at risk last year.
· If the CWD / Herd monitoring program is cut – deer farmers are out of business
· The legislation restricts the money to the CWD / Herd monitoring program in Department of Ag
· The Governor’s office is promulgating regulations to put the money into the General Fund – deer farmers are against this
