Never had a fish in the gulf break my heart the way a giant wahoo did when it straightened my hooks as my buddy swung the gaff. I knew that I almost had a trophy fish. I have only ever had a giant one on line once. I love deep see fishing but I live a long way from the gulf. There ain't no way I am diving down around the legs of the oil rigs we usually fish around. I think I am scared enough of the barracuda let alone the great whites the size of the boat. You are much braver than me! Lol

I have been shooting 50 + pound barracuda. But i feel your pain. My first trip out on my boat this year I lost a big wahoo when we missed it with the gaff also. Been 25 or more times with no more wahoo until yesterday. It was just fate

I am jealous, I only do freshwater spearfishing in Michigan. I am limited to large bottom feeders, the biggest carp I have ever speared was 44lbs. That was big enough to pull me through the water, I can only imagine a wahoo weighing over 100lbs!!! I am guessing you have a long line attached to a buoy to help prevent you from being pulled down. Congratulations!
